Non-contact Bumps racing for coxed fours open to all rowing clubs, universities, colleges, and schools
BUMPS is the traditional racing format in Oxford and Cambridge university rowing. This club run event gives all rowing clubs the chance to compete in this thrilling racing format. Crews race line astern starting 1.5 lengths apart. The aim is to "bump" the crew ahead of you without being caught by the crew behind. If you bump, your race is over and you swap places with the bumped crew in the next race of the day. If you get bumped you keep racing; you can be bumped more than once! Crews who move up four (or more) places in one day are awarded "blades", crews who are bumped in each race get "spoons".
Guaranteed four races in one day. Non-qualifying event, no BR points awarded.
RACING for Senior and Junior, Open and Women's crews in coxed fours, will be in divisions with 4 races per division at 2-hourly intervals. Each team shall consist of 4 rowers, a cox, a poleman and a judge equipped with a bicycle. Men and women will race in separate divisions, with starting order drawn taking into account last year’s finish order. The aim is to finish as high in the order as possible at the end of the day, and so secure a better starting position next year. Doubling up or sharing of equipment or coxes is not permitted. MEDALS will be awarded to the crews at the head of the Open and Women’s first divisions at the end of the day's racing. Members of crews that bump in each cycle of races without being bumped will each be awarded a mini blade trophy.

Note: Places are strictly limited, and precedence will be given to complete applications in the order received. This is not a qualifying event. All club rowers must provide a British Rowing number. For insurance purposes, college rowers must either obtain a British Rowing license or provide evidence of racing insurance.

The online form requires completion by the Secretary or Captain of the club entering the event for each individual crew. Please use ONLY this online form to enter your crews. Crews entered by email or post will not be accepted and any entries received via those methods will be directed to this form. Please provide an honest assessment of the crews ability with your entry as this will assist creating the start order. Crews who misrepresent their ability risk not being awarded blades.
Entry Fee - £60 per crew
Places are strictly limited and will be allocated on a first come first served basis by entry date. In the event of a conflict, payment received date will be used. It is therefore in your interest to enter and pay as soon as possible to secure your position in the event.
Once your entry has been received and checked you will be sent a confirmation email to your contact addresses within 24 hours. This will include account details for payment and a unique payment code. Codes will be issued one per crew and all payments must be made using this code to be reconciled with your entry.
In all cases payments must be received before the event starts.
